Nearly all parents addressed the need for stability, that uncertainty about a self-contained grade or combining two can create problems. Current total enrollment at Township is 84 students in grades K-5. He also pointed out that the loss of $130,000 in expected state funding also was having an effect, and board members agreed that there are concerns about what the fiftth grade enrollment would be next year. Superintendent Schneider, noting the additional students, did not recommend combining grades, but did note the enrollment may need to be reviewed in the spring. Some 20 staff and parents attended the meeting, many concerned that the board was going to combine the fourth and fifth grades. The Mid-Prairie Board of Education Monday noted it was ?comfortable? with the numbers for this year, but the situation has to be reviewed, and that a study group likely will be formed to examine it. The 11-student enrollment is identical to the one for 2014-15. With a gain of four additional students between last week and Monday for a total of 11, Washington Township Elementary will retain a separate fourth grade for this year.
